18 Water basin for Koloro
Have you ever carried a bucket of water 500 metres? That's what the women have to do every day to water their beds.
A feat that takes a lot of time.
In August 2024, the head of our association responded to Edrissa's request. Edrissa has been asking for help for a long time.
We are on our way to Koloro. Koloro has a huge garden of around 4 hectares. The solar panels and fence were sponsored by the last government. The problem is that the women have to walk a long way to the 18 water taps. They have to walk 3 km to the garden, then up to 300 metres to the tap, around which a long queue forms. Then back to water and again to the tap, and so on. They usually stay in the garden all day to make the journey worthwhile. The women who are even further away from the tap have to dig their own wells, but these quickly run dry.
Edrissa asks for water basins for his village, which are distributed over the entire area. This means that the water basins can always be filled and long queues can be avoided. One water basin requires 10 bags of cement. One bag costs 8 euros and can make a big difference. Each water basin makes the women's work much easier.
But we can only realise this together. Help us with our campaign, 80 euros for a water basin (click on this link to go to betterplace).
