Water march, they say in Kunjata and Kuloro

Feb 23, 2025
Two more gardens can be handed over.
The year has just begun and we are already receiving positive news from The Gambia. The garden in Kuloro has received its 18 water basins and the garden in Kunjata can also be handed over to the residents. We are delighted together with the women, who mainly do the hard gardening work. The gardens are so important and very valuable for the village community. The vegetables grown can be sold at the local markets or enrich the local diet. Vitamin-rich food cannot be taken for granted.
A thousand thanks also to our hard-working donors. Without you, our work on the ground would not be possible.

There were minor problems in Jinack Island. The pump was no longer pumping enough water. The well builder had misjudged the existing soil conditions. The filters became clogged with sand. A solution to the problem was necessary. Unfortunately, the borehole could not be drilled any deeper and the pipe material used could not be reused. That was very annoying. So we had to drill a new hole and lay the pipe to the water tower. Not so difficult really, if it wasn't for the devil at work. Instead of 100 meters of pipe, 200 meters were laid. Fortunately, it was noticed in time, otherwise we would have had to buy a new pump soon. Now we are glad that this garden project can also be completed.
